natural law prints

Throughout my life I have heard many morality based statements regarding 'Natural Law’. In my experience, these conjectures were put forward to suppress otherness, often with severe real life consequences. These prints address two ways in which we describe Natural Law, with respect to nature and to mankind.

All of the images are digital drawings superimposed over photographic images. Each drawing is a plein air Forest Drawing made specifically for the selected photographed ‘portrait’. The color of each drawing references the first letter of the name of the portrait’s character (example: Violet for Victor). These drawings represent the nature portion of Natural Law.

The photographs are manipulated snap shots of the main characters in Fassbinder’s film interpretation of Jean Genet’s novel, Querelle. Both the original novel and the subsequent movie question Natural Law by their mere being (both are gay culture master works).
