The Thought Paintings attempt to diagram the mechanisms of unexamined notions that float in the background of our being. In these paintings, the indigo and white rectangles (indigo being my color for ‘I’, in this case ‘the self’) stand in for unconscious thoughts, psychological black-boxes if you will. The colored rays that project from the rectangles are ‘translated’ words that provide glimmers of conscious insight into the activities of our inner self. These chromatic ‘words’ also indicate intertwining links between one latent ‘thought’ and another. No individual impulse stands alone, nor does it have a singular driver.
