Gulf Coast is a nationally distributed literary journal that showcases new works of emerging and established literary talent. For the Winter/Spring Issue, Gulf Coast invited me to contribute an art insert and a cover design.  For the artwork in this issue, I edited down (purged) the complete text of Jean Genet's The Thief's Journal (English translation) to phrases that only contained the word, 'it'. For each resulting page of text I highlighted a singular phrase and created a 'chromatic translation' of that phrase on the facing page. For the cover design, I applied my chromatic alphabet to display the original French title in the lower half and the English, translated title in the upper half.
