The Transcription Drawings are primarily about purging content through over-writing one text upon another.  When transcribing texts by hand, one is personalizing the original text greatly. (the slant of one’s one script, the idiosyncratic spacing of words, the inclined lilt of written lines). As evidenced through the resulting marks, transcriptions suggest a right of passage from universal to particular. In these transcription works, my intent is to use over-writing as a purging device that annuls content.  My very private acts of transcription absorb the force of the text and transform content into visually formal images that are themselves questions.
