Utley drawings
This suite of ongoing drawings are based on poems written from an early mentor of mine, Tom Utley. In the 1980’s we wrote to each other often and shared many personal thoughts. But, without explanation on Tom’s part, the correspondences ceased.
Each drawing chromatically translates words from Tom’s poems, reorganizing the words and altering their linearity Each collection of colored bars is a word. And their geometries underscore the layered nuances and dis-junctures in organizing language into poetic communication.
