The Pictures With Rays drawings examine figure/field relationships. The 'texts' in the central portions of these compositions - representing the figure - are from Genet's novel, Querelle de Brest. They are either excerpts from Seblon's diary entries or predicates describing one of the main characters in the book. The rays that radiate from the central ‘figure’ are phrases uttered (or written) by the selected character - an instance of how the character projects him/herself into the world (their field). The ‘texts’ are comprised of a chromatic-coded alphabet.
